Case study – New Victoria Hospital digitalise statutory and mandatory training with Skills for Health

Introduction

New Victoria Hospital is an independent charity owned private Hospital located in London. It offers a variety of treatments and surgeries provided by skilled consultants and healthcare workers. The Hospital values high standards for all learning requirements and top-tier eLearning was necessary to cover all mandated healthcare requirements to ensure the delivery of exceptional healthcare to patients. Additionally, a learning management system was required to track, manage, and support a large volume and variety of eLearning.

The need

Before partnering with Skills for Health, the Hospital managed mandatory training offline using spreadsheets. This approach was not only resource-intensive but also lacked transparency, as Heads of Department had no visibility into their own departmental mandatory training compliance.

Additionally, the Hospital used multiple eLearning providers, which weren’t necessarily specialised in healthcare. This resulted in a poor user experience for employees due to the inconsistency and lack of integration among the different eLearning platforms. After extensive review the Hospital felt that Skills for Health, as the authors of the Core Skills Training Framework and many other Frameworks, were able to support their comprehensive eLearning requirements and compliance learning management system needs.

The solution

Skills for Health addressed these challenges by providing a comprehensive eLearning solution and a robust learning management system (LMS), LearnSpace Pro, that streamlined the tracking and management of training compliance. This system allowed for better oversight and efficiency, significantly reducing the administrative burden and ensuring that all training requirements were met effectively.

“The support and customer service from Skills for Health have been exceptional. Their team has been incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the entire implementation process, ensuring that we have everything we need to succeed. Their commitment to our success has made a significant difference in our training and compliance efforts”

“As an independent hospital, having access to the knowledge and expertise at Skills for Health has been incredibly valuable in ensuring we provide top-notch learning and development opportunities for our teams” Dan Gallagher, HR Director at New Victoria Hospital.

The impact

The key deliverables from the project included the implementation of a unified eLearning platform and a comprehensive LMS in the form of LearnSpace Pro. This new system significantly improved the user experience for employees by providing a single platform for all eLearning activities, as well as for registering and recording classroom training. As a result, the Hospital’s overall mandatory training compliance improved, currently standing at 91%. Additionally, the streamlined processes and enhanced visibility into training compliance allowed the Hospital to reduce people resource requirements by 0.6 FTE.
