The Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) was last reviewed and updated in June 2021. Due to Covid 19 putting undue pressure on trusts, HEE made the decision not to ask trusts at that time to align to this latest version. This means that most organisations will have made their declaration to a legacy version of the CSTF, which will now be out of date.
NHS Trusts in England should declare to the CSTF England version (1.1) dated June 2021.
Now more than ever, healthcare staff must be able to move quickly and smoothly around the system, avoiding the unnecessary costs associated with duplication of training. The CSTF is the trusted standard for statutory and mandatory training and alignment by all employers to the most up to date version is a key enabler allowing staff to move around the healthcare system more easily.
As the NHS continues apace to deliver challenging recovery plans, we request that Trusts now align to the June 2021 CSTF Framework.
If your organisation has not declared alignment to the CSTF published in June 2021, you should begin the process now with your submission to be sent to us by, no later than 30th January 2023.
