Feldenkrais National Occupational Standard (NOS)

Skills for Health are working with the Feldenkrais Guild UK to develop a Feldenkrais Method Teaching National Occupational Standard (NOS). The Feldenkrais Method is an educational system that uses movement to teach self awareness and improve function.

Background

The need to create this NOS has arisen as part of the guild’s application to the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) to have the occupation of Feldenkrais Teacher included in the register of health practitioners.

The need

The Feldenkrais Guild UK have applied to have the occupation of Feldenkrais Teacher included in this register of health practitioners. As part of this application, they need to develop a therapy specific NOS, the reason they need to do this is that all applicants for registration to the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council must have completed training courses where the core curriculum is based on two NOS which are shared by all therapies (CNH1 & CNH2) plus the relevant therapy specific NOS. (eg CNH4 Deliver Aromatherapy to clients or when it is completed CNH28 Deliver Feldenkrais Method Teaching).

This NOS CNH28, Deliver Feldenkrais Method Teaching, is currently being developed with the aim of having it included in the CNHC. Skills for Health and the Feldenkrais Guild UK are now carrying out a public consultation, and we’re inviting you to take part.

These NOS are all part of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare (CNH) suite.

Development approach

The first iteration of the NOS has been developed by the expert reference group and is currently being reviewed via a survey which closed noon on Monday 25 November.
